Supporting Adaptive Hypermedia Authors with Automated Content Indexing
نویسندگان
چکیده
The main hindrance to expanded use of adaptive educational hypermedia systems is the need for content to be properly described in the terms of domain concepts. This requirement slows down the authoring process and creates an obstacle to the broader distribution of such systems. In the current paper, we propose an approach to providing automated content indexing for adaptive educational hypermedia systems. Both stages of automated content indexing (content parsing and prerequisite/outcome identification) are described here in detail. The approach we have developed has been implemented by indexing the content of the NavEx system and has proven itself by creating meaningful recourse for adaptive example navigation support.

Supporting the Authoring of Adaptive Hypermedia with Structural Information?
Authoring adaptive hypermedia requires skills that go beyond pure text editing, because relations between concepts have to be specified among other knowledge engineering activities. A recent approach to support authors is to compute several structural measures of the domain model to estimate its adaptivity degree. However, our empirical results of eight different courses and more than 1300 user...
متن کاملOntological Evaluation as an Automated Guide to Educational Content Augmentation
The technologies of the Semantic Web have matured to allow for inference processing within real–world productive applications. One application area is concerned about aiding authors with the automated information provisioning with respect to their content. Such a process of content augmentation will rely on ontological knowledge specific to the authors field and context. Educational Content Man...
متن کاملEngineering an interoperable adaptive hypermedia testing tool supporting user adaptable strategies
In this paper we present a web based tool for authoring adaptive assessments based on IMS QTI, IMS LIP and IEEE PAPI learning standards. The tool allows authors of assessments to customize the applied adaptation strategies to meet their own teaching experiences and goals. During the assessment procedure the system accumulates knowledge about learners and adapts the exposure of items based on th...
متن کاملMy Online Teacher 2.0
This paper describes a new design of MOT, My Online Teacher, an authoring system for adaptive delivery of content, called MOT 2.0. The new design focuses on collaborative authoring and social annotation between communities of authors, as well as applying adaptivity based on users’ activities. The MOT 2.0 observes authors’ interaction patterns and suggests recommended/related materials and can r...
متن کاملA Unified Approach to Adaptive Hypermedia Personalisation and Adaptive Service Composition
Adaptive Hypermedia is utilised in several domains, such as eLearning and professional training, where there is a growing movement towards the use of cognitively richer and more ‘active’ approaches to user engagement. In order to support this move, it is vital that adaptive personalisation systems, in these domains, are capable of integrating adaptively composed activities into adaptively perso...
